When roving reporter Berylee Baker visited Jackson, California recently, she landed smack dab in the middle of festive celebration, the annul Christmas Delights sponsored by the Jackson Business and Community Association. Jackson is located along Historic Gold Rush Highway 49, approx. an hour drive from Sacramento or 2 hours 30 minutes from San Francisco.
Christmas Delights, which is held the Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving week-end, is but one of many events that brings this Gold Rush town rushing to the downtown streets in search of golden sunshine and fun. Cheerful costumed Christmas characters roving the street, a small parade and Santa Claus were a few of the highlights of the city that promises to bring more “gold” your way. The tourist destination is already planning its 2012 events roster.
