At the Long Beach Pride Festival this weekend, there's a a whole lot of pride in "The International City" at a family-friendly celebration. Shifting gears, the Long Beach Grand Prix has packed up and moved out of town, providing nothing more than a memory till next April when it returns. The pride festival is an annual event in May that showcases the Long Beach gay community, and its entertainment is more middle-of-the-road than West Hollywood's night time celebration held in October for adults only.
Situated along Shoreline Village within view of the Queen Mary and harbor, the Long Beach Pride Celebration includes concerts, vendor booths, entertainment and foods. The main draw is a gated event that charges a fee on Saturday and Sunday, while there's a free Long Beach Pride Parade that everyone can enjoy on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. The parade route starts on Ocean Avenue at Lindero and finishes at Alamitos Ave. longbeachpride.com
