PLEASANTON, CALIF.- Pirates of Emerson Haunted House Attraction: What started as a small group of friends with some props in a backyard, has grown into nearly two decades of production of one of the most imaginative, award-winning Halloween attractions in the U.S. Set in the 15th century when pirates reigned supreme, the attraction set among five acres of space includes special effects, robotics, animation and interaction (mixed with obligatory screams). Pirates of Emerson Haunted Theme Park moved to the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleansanton in 2010, and at the new location consists of five haunted houses that have taken months to design. Held weekends and additional days as Halloween approaches, the event is a must-see.
The authentically frightening scene that includes pirates, belly dancers and fire breathers is geared toward older children and adults. Times: 7:05p.m.- 10 p.m. Admission: $20 admission, $10 more for a fast pass. Location: Alameda County Fairgrounds, 4501 Pleasanton Ave., Pleasanton, California.
