Santa Clarita's heritage comes partly out of its Old West roots, and as much out of its movie sets used in countless cowboy movies, films and shows. On a special weekend each year the public gets to step onto the stage sets and be surrounded by great music, cowboy shoot-outs, chuckwagon cooking and fun-filled days that are guaranteed to impress.
Great Western Music and Cowboy Poetry, authentic cowboy gear, food, and non-stop fun takes place at Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio, home to the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival. In 2011 the entertainment includes Sons of San Joaquin, Sourdough Slim, Chris Isaacs, Waddie Mitchell, many more.
Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival takes place April 27 - May 1, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Cost: General Admission:$20, $10 kids; $40-$80 for tours and special events. Location: Melody Ranch (shuttle parking nearby) cowboyfestival.org
