SD Zoo's 'HalGLOWeen' Halloween Extravaganza is described as a glittering, glowing spectacular. Fun-filled weekends-Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, the event hopes to allow families more time to encounter remarkable wildlife in diverse habitats, entertainment and experiences. New in 2024! Enchanted HalGLOWeen Forest 6:30-9 p.m. Polar Bear Plunge, Northern Frontier   pathway transforms into an ethereal walk-through adventure with  surprises around every corner.

The Spiders' W.E.B. 5-9 p.m. (Continuous) Desert Dunes, Wildlife Explorers Basecamp. Acrobatic spider performers show off their skills as they hover overhead, bringing an arachnid glow.

The GLOW-Gos 7-9 p.m. (Every 10 minutes) Busy Bee Patio, Wildlife Explorers Basecamp. Squash, Gourdon, and Alicia animated, neon pumpkin singing group.

OUTBACK Spooky Revue 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m. (15 minutes) Sydney's Grill, Outback. Host Scare D. Cat's with kooky acts—unicyclists, aerialists, jugglers, and acrobats—in this glowing variety show.

Zoo Crew Boo Crew 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m. (30 minutes) Mercado along Front Street includes scarecrow stilt-walkers. San Diego Zoo Boo Crew of Dr. Harry & Friends 5:45, 6:50, and 7:55 p.m. (20 minutes) at OutbackBoardwalk Beer Garden are dressed in their Halloween finest and ready to trick or treat!

Python Path Reptile House, Front Street in a whole new light. DJ plays hits of the season from the Oasis Stage.

WILDLIFE EXPLORERS BASECAMP Featured Creatures 5:15, 6:15, and 7:15 p.m. (15 minutes) introduces animal friends with a  spooky reputation.

Organ player Dusty Keys at 5, 6:05, 7:10, and 8:15 p.m. (45 minutes) Boardwalk Beer Garden, Outback. The eerie  keyboardist with tunes from beyond.

Boolahoops at 5, 6, 7, and 8 p.m. (30 minutes) at Near Wegeforth Bowl, Centennial Plaza. Youth and family jump at the chance to shuffle to Halloween hits from the likes of  The Skeleton Band dressed in skeleton costumes. 

AFRICA ROCKS Dr. Zoolittle's Tricks & Treats 5, 6, 7, and 8 p.m. (30 minutes) features interactive games and costume fun

Dia de los Muertos Mariachi 5, 6, 7, and 8 p.m. (30 minutes) at Sabertooth Mexican Grill, Elephant Odyssey  (not available October 22)

As the sun goes down each weekend, 5- 9 p.m., guests can enjoy live music, performances, and interactive games.

Costume fun is hosted by Dr. Zoolittle.  Guests can meet and greet the Zoo's Boo Crew, as Dr. Harry and Friends don their Halloween finery

Seasonal treats at eateries throughout the Zoo are reminiscent of what you may see at places such as Disneyland during its festive holidays.  

HALGLOWEEN: What activities happen during HalGLOWeen?
HalGLOWeen includes a variety of special activities and entertainment, including a DJ, acrobats, glow-in-the-dark hula hoops, puppets, costumed characters, and Halloween decor. The entire Zoo grounds will be open during HalGLOWeen, scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout October 2022.

HALGLOWEEN: Can I wear a costume to the Zoo during this event?
Ages 11 years and younger may dress in their favorite family friendly Halloween costume as long as the costumes adhere to San Diego Zoo's costume guidelines.

Costumes must be child friendly and not obstructive, offensive, or violent. These guests may wear masks, however masks must not obstruct vision and eyes must be visible at all times. Costumes must not drag on the ground. Accessories should not contain fake fingernails, and costumes must not contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another guest or employee. Costumes cannot contain any weapons that may resemble, or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon. Acceptable accessories include transparent wings, plastic light sabers, and tutus. Please, no small costume pieces such as sequins, or tiny things that could fall off and get into an animal habitat.
